The Kiss - Invitation - Lead 1/33

Mastering the Invitation as a Lead – Your Key to a Confident Start! 1. Establishing Your Presence As the Lead, you set the foundation for the dance. Begin with strong yet relaxed posture: Stand proud and upright, ensuring your shoulders are relaxed and your chest is open. Avoid unnecessary tension—your posture should invite confidence and ease for your partner. 2. Offering the Invitation The first physical connection comes through the left hand offer: Extend your left hand, palm facing up. Keep your elbow close to your side—avoid reaching too far or leaning back. This keeps your frame structured and ensures a stable, controlled connection. 3. Guiding the Follower’s Entry Once your partner places their hand in yours, guide them smoothly into position: Use gentle fingertip pressure to signal them forward. This is not a pull—simply a subtle nudge that invites their step. As they move forward, be aware of their timing to maintain fluidity. 4. Stepping Into the Dance Position As the Follower steps in, you must close the distance effectively: Step forward with your left foot first, then bring your right foot to close. This movement should feel natural and not rushed—allow a moment for both partners to settle. 5. Transitioning Into Dance Hold As soon as you’re in position, smoothly transition into the full frame: Rotate your left hand from palm up to palm down, creating what is called the "Lego Hands" connection. While doing this, bring your right hand down and around to settle into the traditional dance hold position. Ensure your frame remains open yet supportive, allowing for clear lead-follow communication. 6. Aligning for a Smooth Start Now that the invitation is complete, focus on your final adjustments: Check that your weight is balanced and ready to move. Confirm that your frame is structured yet relaxed, creating an inviting space for movement. Take a brief pause to feel the connection before leading the first step. Key Takeaways for a Strong, Effective Invitation: ✅ Keep posture upright, relaxed, and confident. ✅ Offer your left hand with your elbow close to your side. ✅ Invite the Follower forward with gentle fingertip pressure, not force. ✅ Step left foot first, then close, ensuring smooth movement. ✅ Transition into the dance hold naturally, with a clear but fluid hand change. ✅ Align your weight and frame before beginning movement. By mastering these steps, you ensure a seamless and elegant start, setting the tone for an effortless dance experience with your partner. Now, let’s practice and refine the flow!
